Fairy Bread

Get ready to bring a touch of magic to snack time with everyone's favourite childhood treat - fairy bread! With just a few basic ingredients and a sprinkle of imagination, you can create a delicious lunch box treat with your little people.

Ingredients

  • 125g  butter (1/2 cup)

  • 6 slices white bread (fresh is best)

  • 1/2 cup sprinkles of your choice or 100's & 1000's

Preparation

Step 1

Spread butter on each slice of bread. Make sure to cover the whole slice, even the edges. You can leave the crust on or cut it off.

Step 2

Choose one of the below options based on what works best for your little helpers:

Option 1: Cut out heart shapes from the bread and dip them in a bowl of sprinkles. This makes it easy for little hands to hold the hearts and creates the least mess.

Option 2: Place the bread slices into a baking tray or a deep dish, then pour the sprinkles on top. Afterward, transfer the bread onto a chopping board and cut out shapes. Using a baking tray ensures minimal sprinkle spill over the kitchen floor.

Step 3

Enjoy your tasty creation!

Notes:

Bread - If you are buying fresh bread at a bakery, ask them to slice it lengthwise. Most bakeries are willing to do this. Cutting the bread lengthwise gives you larger bread slices that are easier to cut into shapes.

Sprinkles - Any type of sprinkles will work.

Butter - Salted or unsalted is fine. This can be substituted for your favourite spread such as jam, nutella or smooth peanut-butter.
