Koala Biscuits

These cute and easy treats are perfect for a fun-filled afternoon of decorating with your mini baker. These are inspired by the book 'Don't call me Bear!' by Aaron Blabey.
With just a few simple ingredients and a lot of imagination there is no baking required, just some biscuit icing and a variety of decorations.

Ingredients

  • Oval-shaped plain sweet biscuits

  • Icing sugar soft mixture

  • Milk

  • Marshmallows

  • Maltesers  (for nose)

  • Chocolate Chips (for eyes)

  • Black food coloring (i use Colourmill)

Preparation

Step 1

To make the icing, start by sifting the icing mixture into a bowl. Note: Depending on how many cookies you are making will depend on the amount of icing mixture you need.

Step 2

Gradually add milk, a little at a time. Start with one teaspoon, then add 1/2 teaspoon increments until the icing becomes thick enough to spread and smooth out as it rests. This will be the base for the koala's face, so we want it to be thick.

Step 3

Add one drop of black food coloring to the icing and mix it well to achieve the gray color you need for the koala's face.

Step 4

Pour the icing into a piping bag and cut straight across the bottom of the tipless bag creating a small opening.

Step 5

Squeeze the icing onto the biscuit and spread it out evenly.

Step 6

Next, cut the marshmallows in half to make two circles. These will be the koala's ears.

Step 7

Add a malteser choc for the nose & 2 choc chips for the eyes.

Step 8

Next, cut the marshmallows in half to make two circles. These will be the koala's ears.

Step 9

You've made a cute koala biscuit! Repeat the steps for as many koala biscuits as you like.

Remember, it's okay to get a little messy, have fun while decorating your koala biscuits. You can also add other decorations if you want, like a smile, shredded coconut or sprinkles.
